If you are keeping things local this Memorial Day weekend, Avondale Estates has something truly magical in store for families, neighbors, and anyone who loves a good story. On Saturday, May 23rd, the Avondale Estates Town Green transforms into an open‑air stage for A Shakespeare Happening Spring Series, featuring a lively, family‑friendly performance of Romeo & Juliet by The Atlanta Shakespeare Company.
And yes, the Bard himself will be there! Families will have the chance to meet “William Shakespeare”, ask questions, and enjoy an afternoon filled with theatre, music, and community fun.
🎭 A Free Community Celebration of Art, Learning & Play
Presented by Bard x Sage PR, in partnership with Commissioner Ted Terry (DeKalb County District 6) and the City of Avondale Estates, this free event brings high‑quality, accessible theatre directly to the community. The goal? To make Shakespeare engaging, welcoming, and exciting for all ages, especially young audiences experiencing his work for the first time.
“This production is about introducing Shakespeare to the next generation in a way that feels engaging, approachable, and fun,” said Nicole Sage, Producer of Bard x Sage PR. “Families will have the chance to meet ‘Shakespeare,’ ask questions, and experience the story in a dynamic setting. Commissioner Terry and I are proud to create a no-cost space for community engagement and a shared cultural moment right here in DeKalb.”
